Lydbrook is a village and electoral ward tucked into the eastern edge of the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire, England, sitting close to the steep-sided Wye Valley and the River Wye near the border with Herefordshire. The settlement stretches up a narrow valley, giving it a mix of wooded slopes, stone cottages and open views; its location makes it a handy base for walking, cycling and other outdoor pursuits amid the surrounding ancient woodland.
Historically the community grew around ironworking, coal and tinplate industries and you can still find hints of that industrial archaeology in old works and former tramway routes. Today Lydbrook has a small local economy with independent shops and services, while many residents commute to nearby towns such as Coleford and Cinderford; it remains a place with a strong local identity, active clubs and occasional village events that reflect its industrial past and rural setting.
