The village and civil parish of Arlingham sits on a horseshoe bend of the River Severn in the district of Stroud, Gloucestershire, England, forming a low-lying peninsula often referred to locally as Arlingham Island between the river and the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal. Its tidal setting gives sweeping, dramatic views and makes the stretch a popular vantage for the Severn bore; the surrounding flood meadows and rich soils have long supported mixed farming and orchards.
With Anglo-Saxon roots and a medieval parish church among a number of listed buildings, the place retains a strong sense of history alongside a close-knit community life of village events and walking or river activities. Today agriculture remains important, complemented by leisure and tourism linked to the river, while many residents commute to nearby towns and cities such as Gloucester.
