Hayling East is the eastern ward of Hayling Island, within the borough of Havant in Hampshire. It occupies low-lying coastal ground with sandy seafronts that look out over the Solent and Langstone Harbour, and enjoys easy road links to Portsmouth and the mainland.
The area mixes a strong local community with a tourism- and leisure-oriented economy: watersports, sailing, holiday parks and seafront cafés are prominent, while walkers and birdwatchers use routes such as the Hayling Billy Trail and the harbour’s reserves. Historically rooted in fishing and maritime trades, the ward now balances year‑round residents (including many retirees) with a marked seasonal influx of holidaymakers.
