Beaulieu is a compact, picturesque village set in the heart of the New Forest in Hampshire, England, lying on the tidal Beaulieu River which opens out towards the Solent. The surrounding ancient woodland and heathland mean commoning ponies and grazing cattle are a familiar sight, and the estuary and woods make it popular for boating, walking and wildlife watching.
Historically centred on the ruins of a medieval Cistercian abbey and the adjacent Palace House, the village is also well known for the private collection that became the National Motor Museum, hosted by the Montagu family; motoring events and tourism now underpin much of the local economy alongside traditional estate activities. Despite its visitor attractions, Beaulieu retains a quiet village feel with tearooms, craft shops and riverside character.
