Charlton is a small village and civil parish in the Test Valley district of Hampshire, sitting a few miles from the market town of Andover. It occupies gently rolling downland and farmland typical of north‑west Hampshire, with narrow lanes, hedgerows and small copses that give the area a distinctly rural feel.
Historically the parish has agricultural roots and retains a number of older buildings and a parish church that reflect medieval and post‑medieval development; several houses are of traditional flint and brick and some are listed. The local economy remains largely rural, though many people commute to nearby towns, and the village’s quiet community life, occasional events and easy access to country walks make it popular with those seeking a quieter pace without being cut off from larger services.
