The small market town of Tring sits in the borough of Dacorum, in west Hertfordshire, England, at the foot of the Chiltern Hills. Its position close to the ancient Icknield Way, the Grand Union Canal and the chain of Tring Reservoirs gives it notable countryside and wildlife interest - the reservoirs are an important birdwatching and SSSI area - while good road and rail links make it a popular commuter base for London.
Culturally it punches above its size: the former Rothschild estate houses the Natural History Museum at Tring and the attractive grounds of Tring Park host the well-regarded Tring Park School for the Performing Arts. The town still feels like a traditional market centre with independent shops, cafés and a mix of local services and visitors drawn by walking, wildlife and a handsome historic streetscape.
