Brighstone

Brighstone is a compact, traditionally built village on the south‑west side of the Isle of Wight in England, tucked into the so‑called "Back of the Wight" where chalk downs roll down towards the coast. The village sits just inland from Brighstone Bay and neighbouring Compton Bay, so it’s a good base for walkers and fossil‑hunters exploring dramatic cliffs, beaches and the island’s coastal footpaths.

There’s a strong local character - thatched cottages, a medieval church and a handful of pubs and shops - and the economy leans on agriculture and low‑key tourism. Brighstone is also close to Afton Down, the site of the famous 1970 Isle of Wight Festival, and links into long distance trails such as the Tennyson Trail, making it popular with weekend visitors as well as residents who prize its village community and rural feel.
