Leysdown-on-Sea is a small coastal village on the eastern edge of the Isle of Sheppey, in the borough of Swale in Kent, England. It sits beside wide tidal sands and mudflats on the Swale and offers simple seaside attractions - a beach, promenades and a clutch of caravan parks and amusement arcades - with views across the estuary that change dramatically with the tides.
Historically the area played a part in early British aviation, with pioneering flights and aircraft work nearby at Eastchurch, and today the local economy is driven largely by seasonal tourism and holiday accommodation. Beyond the holiday bustle there are important coastal habitats for waders and wildfowl, so the place often feels like a mix of working seafront community and a base for nature-minded visitors.
