Minster-on-Sea is a coastal civil parish on the western side of the Isle of Sheppey in the borough of Swale, Kent, bordered by tidal creeks and marshes of the Thames Estuary. The landscape is notable for low-lying salt marshes and mudflats, and the nearby island of Elmley has become well known as a large nature reserve attracting birdwatchers and coastal walkers.
The settlement has a small historic centre with an old parish church and a mix of agricultural and seaside village character; historically livelihoods came from farming, fishing and service industries linked to nearby Sheerness, while today many residents commute off-island and local tourism around wildlife and coastal walks is important. Community life is typically village-focused with a handful of shops, a village hall and seasonal events that reflect its rural and maritime heritage.
