Sheppey East sits on the eastern side of the Isle of Sheppey off the north Kent coast in Kent. The area combines low-lying coastal frontage and marshland with agricultural hinterland and the classic holiday stretch around Leysdown, making it scenic but also exposed to coastal erosion and flood risk.
Locally the economy leans on seasonal tourism, small-scale farming and links to industry and the port at Sheerness, while the island’s aviation heritage - celebrated at Eastchurch for its early pioneering flights - adds a distinctive historic flavour. Socially it’s a mix of long-established coastal communities and commuters, with ongoing local efforts on regeneration, shoreline protection and boosting year-round employment.
