The village and civil parish of Boston Spa lies in the City of Leeds metropolitan borough in West Yorkshire, roughly between Leeds and Wetherby and close to the River Wharfe. It grew up in the late 18th century as a spa after a mineral spring was promoted, and that history is still visible in its Georgian and Victorian streetscapes and conservation area.
Today it is largely a residential, commuter-friendly community with a compact high street of independent shops and pubs, a primary school and a lively programme of community groups and events. The local economy is centred on services for residents, while its period charm and good road links make it popular with families who work in the city.
