Measham is a large village in North West Leicestershire, Leicestershire, England, sitting close to the Derbyshire border. It lies near the River Mease and on the fringe of the National Forest, with the old line of the Ashby Canal and a network of former industrial lanes still visible in the landscape.
Historically it grew as a coal‑mining and pottery centre - Measham became well known for its distinctive pottery and clay tobacco pipes - and the canal helped drive 18th–19th century industry. Since those industries declined it has become more of a commuter and local service centre, with rows of terraces, working pubs, active community groups and ongoing regeneration linked to canal restoration and the National Forest planting.
