Skellingthorpe is a village and civil parish in North Kesteven, Lincolnshire, England, lying roughly four miles west of Lincoln. Set among low-lying arable farmland and drainage channels typical of central Lincolnshire, it has medieval origins - the "thorpe" suffix suggests a later Norse/Old English settlement - and retains a compact village core surrounded by fields.
Today it functions largely as a residential and commuter village with a population of around 2,000, supporting a primary school, village hall, shops and local sports clubs. The community has an active social life with traditional events and clubs, and there is local interest in wildlife and green spaces: land associated with the former RAF Skellingthorpe and nearby wetlands has been used for recreation and nature conservation, while the village’s wartime and agricultural history remains visible in local memory.
