The village and civil parish of North Lopham lies in the district of Breckland in Norfolk, England, close to the Suffolk border and a short drive from the market town of Diss. It’s a compact rural community set among arable fields and hedgerows typical of East Anglia, with a small village green, church and local amenities that reflect its village-scale social life.
Historically the settlement was associated with small-scale agriculture and a 19th-century flax and linen milling trade, and traces of that industrial past remain in former mill buildings and local field patterns. The area is notable for Lopham Fen, a nationally important fen and nature reserve on the Norfolk–Suffolk border supporting rare wetland habitats, and a strong local community centred on the village hall, annual events and neighbouring South Lopham, which gives the place a quiet but engaged rural character.
