The village of Ormesby St. Michael sits a few miles inland from the east Norfolk coast within the borough of Great Yarmouth in the county of Norfolk, England. It occupies low‑lying arable countryside edged by wetlands typical of the Norfolk Broads, so the landscape mixes farmland, dykes and reedbeds and is handy for both coastal resorts and the city of Norwich.
The settlement has medieval roots - its name comes from Old Norse meaning “Orm’s farmstead” - and retains a parish church and a number of historic farmhouses. Local life is oriented around agriculture, nature and quiet community events, with good opportunities for birdwatching, boating and other outdoor pursuits on the nearby broads, while many residents work in the larger nearby towns.
