Axholme South is a largely rural ward in North Lincolnshire, England, occupying the southern part of the low-lying Isle of Axholme. The landscape is notable for its flat, drained farmland, networks of dykes and rich peat and clay soils; agriculture dominates the local economy, alongside small businesses and a number of residents who commute to nearby Scunthorpe.
There’s a strong local identity rooted in the area’s medieval drainage history and village life, with village halls, pubs and community events playing an important role. Traditional customs such as the historic Haxey Hood in Haxey reflect the ward’s long-standing cultural ties, while its waterways and proximity to the Humber estuary give the area a distinctive rural character.
