Abbots Leigh is a compact village in North Somerset, set on a ridge to the south‑west of Bristol. It overlooks the wooded slopes of Leigh Woods and the dramatic Avon Gorge, with long views towards the Clifton Suspension Bridge and the Severn Estuary; the setting lends the village a very scenic, semi‑rural character despite its proximity to the city.
The name hints at medieval monastic ownership and the village centre contains a number of historic houses and a parish church clustered around a village green, much of which lies within a conservation area. Today Abbots Leigh is largely residential - popular with commuters to Bristol - but retains local farms, small businesses and an active community life, with village societies and occasional events that reflect its strong local identity.
