Long Ashton is a village and civil parish in North Somerset, England, lying around four miles south‑west of Bristol on the edge of the Avon valley. Its setting gives a mix of commuter convenience and countryside access, with the historic Ashton Court estate, the wooded slopes of Leigh Woods and the rolling Mendip Hills all close by.
Locally it is best known for the long‑running Long Ashton Research Station, a twentieth‑century horticultural centre famed for work on fruit crops and cider which left a lasting scientific legacy. The village retains a compact high street, a parish church and active community groups; economically it functions largely as a residential and commuter community for nearby Bristol, while benefiting from strong recreational walking, cycling and equestrian links into the surrounding countryside.
