Shiremoor is a small suburban village in North Tyneside, England, sitting on the north-eastern fringe of the Tyneside conurbation. It has a Tyne and Wear Metro station that gives quick links into Newcastle city centre and the coastal towns such as Whitley Bay, and sits close to major employment areas like Cobalt Business Park.
Originally shaped by the Northumberland coalfield and associated railway routes, Shiremoor has since evolved into a largely residential commuter community with a mix of older terraces and newer housing, local shops, schools and pockets of green space. Recent decades have seen steady regeneration and a shift towards service and office employment while the village retains a distinct local community feel rooted in its industrial past.
