Grassington is a pretty stone-built village in North Yorkshire, England, set in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park beside the River Wharfe. Its cobbled Market Place and Georgian facades sit beneath limestone scars and gritstone edges that characterise the dale, with easy access to popular walking routes and nearby crags such as Kilnsey Crag; the village is also within easy reach of Skipton and Bolton Abbey.
Historically a market and lead‑mining centre, Grassington now largely depends on tourism, hill‑walking and outdoor pursuits, and hosts a busy calendar including a summer arts festival and a Dickensian weekend at Christmas. It retains a strong community feel with independent shops, galleries, cafés and traditional pubs, and acts as a convenient gateway for exploring the lanes and farmed landscape of Upper Wharfedale.
