Hunmanby is a large village and civil parish in North Yorkshire, sitting a few miles inland from the east coast between Filey and Bridlington and on the edge of the rolling chalk of the Yorkshire Wolds. It has a rural feel but good transport links, including a railway station on the line serving Scarborough and Hull, which makes it part agricultural centre, part commuter village for nearby towns and coastal resorts.
The settlement has medieval roots and a strong local community with village groups, a primary school and small businesses; historically the economy has been dominated by farming and related trades, while today tourism from the nearby coast and countryside also contributes. The mix of Wolds hills and proximity to Filey Bay gives it easy access to both quiet rural walks and sandy beaches, so it attracts walkers, families and people looking for a quieter base close to the coast.
