Primrose Valley sits on the North Sea coast in North Yorkshire, England, just south of the resort town of Filey and north of Bridlington. The area is dominated by a long sandy beach and dune system on the edge of Filey Bay, with low cliffs and views out over the sea and the rolling countryside of the Yorkshire Wolds inland.
Today Primrose Valley is best known for its large holiday parks and family-focused seaside facilities, so tourism is the mainstay of the local economy and the population swells in summer. Historically a small coastal hamlet, it expanded in the 20th century with the rise of domestic holidays; visitors come for walking, birdlife, beach activities and easy access to neighbouring towns, while outside the season the place is noticeably quieter and more residential in character.
