Langcliffe is a small village and civil parish in the Craven district of North Yorkshire, tucked into Ribblesdale a couple of miles east of Settle. It sits beneath the dramatic limestone escarpment of Langcliffe Scar and close to the River Ribble, making it a handy base for walkers exploring the Yorkshire Dales and the surrounding gorge and waterfall country.
Historically the village grew in the 19th century around quarrying and a substantial textile mill, and you can still see the stone mill buildings and traces of industrial workings; in recent decades those structures have been repurposed and the local economy mixes agriculture, small businesses and tourism. The settlement retains a strong community feel, with traditional stone cottages and narrow lanes, and it remains popular with walkers, climbers and anyone seeking a quieter base for exploring nearby market towns and Dales scenery.
