Malham Moor is an elevated, sparsely populated parish on the moorland of the Yorkshire Dales in North Yorkshire, lying above the village of Malham. The landscape is classic Dales country - drystone walls, heather and rough grazing on limestone and gritstone - with easy access to famous karst features nearby, including Malham Cove and Gordale Scar.
There is no real village centre and the local economy is dominated by sheep farming, grouse moor management and seasonal tourism from walkers and birdwatchers; the area falls within the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Historically shaped by enclosure and upland agricultural practice, social life tends to be tied to neighbouring communities and small estate farms rather than a concentrated settlement.
