Middleton Tyas is a small village and civil parish in North Yorkshire, sitting on gently rolling farmland a short drive from the market town of Richmond and within easy reach of the Yorkshire Dales. The village has a compact historic core of stone cottages, a village green and a parish church, giving it a traditional rural character set against attractive countryside and the nearby corridor of the River Swale.
Locally the economy is still influenced by agriculture but many residents commute to nearby towns via the A1(M) and other regional roads; community life revolves around a village hall, a school and a pub, with occasional local events. The "Tyas" part of the name echoes medieval landowners, so there is a quietly layered history beneath its unassuming present-day appearance.
