The civil parish of Pickhill with Roxby sits in the Hambleton district of North Yorkshire, made up of the village of Pickhill and the smaller hamlet of Roxby. It occupies gently rolling agricultural land on the fringe of the Vale of York, with traditional stone farmhouses, hedgerows and wide rural views toward market towns such as Northallerton and Thirsk.
Farming remains the backbone of the local economy, and the area’s long rural history is reflected in a number of older cottages and farmsteads that give the settlements a quiet, village feel. Community life is small-scale and neighbourly, with local events and village facilities forming the social hub while many residents travel to nearby towns or the Teesside area for work and services.
