Scampston is a small village and civil parish in the Ryedale district of North Yorkshire, set on the edge of the rolling Yorkshire Wolds and the Vale of Pickering. It lies a few miles from the market town of Malton and within easy reach of the A64 corridor between York and Scarborough, making it quietly well connected despite its rural character.
The village is best known for Scampston Hall, an elegant country house with restored gardens and parkland that draws visitors for walks, garden events and occasional exhibitions. Locally the economy is largely agricultural, with arable fields and traditional stone cottages forming much of the streetscape; the community retains a close-knit, village feel and benefits from the heritage and landscape that attract walkers and country-house visitors.
