Eastwood is a former mining and framework-knitting town in the Borough of Broxtowe, Nottinghamshire, England, lying on the edge of the old Nottinghamshire coalfield and within easy reach of Nottingham. The Victorian boom left a tight-knit pattern of terraced streets, social clubs and colliery remains, while patches of countryside and walking routes around the town still hint at its semi-rural setting.
Culturally the town is best known as the childhood home of D. H. Lawrence; the D H Lawrence Birthplace Museum preserves a miner’s terraced house and the area markets itself as part of "Lawrence Country". Today Eastwood mixes that literary and industrial heritage with modern life - local shops, light industry and commuter links - and a keen local interest in community festivals, heritage trails and preserving its distinctive local character.
