Colwick is an electoral ward and suburban area in the borough of Gedling, Nottinghamshire, England, lying just to the east of Nottingham on the banks of the River Trent. It mixes riverside parkland and reedbeds with a variety of housing - older terraces and more recent estates - and is commonly used by commuters who work in the city but prefer a greener fringe location.
The ward is notable for Colwick Country Park, a series of lakes and wetlands formed by gravel extraction that now attract anglers, birdwatchers and walkers, and for the presence of the historic Colwick Hall estate, which hints at the area’s medieval and manorial roots. The riverside setting has shaped local industry and transport historically and means parts of the ward sit on floodplain with associated defences, giving the place a mix of natural, historic and working-class suburban character.
