Ravenshead is a large village and civil parish in the borough of Gedling, Nottinghamshire, England, sitting on the northern fringe of the Nottingham conurbation and close to the ancient woodland of Sherwood Forest. Its setting gives a semi‑rural feel: a mix of suburban housing, older farmsteads and pockets of woodland with public footpaths and bridleways, while being within easy commuting distance of Nottingham and Mansfield.
Historically formed from scattered hamlets and forestry settlements, the village expanded during the 20th century and today is largely residential with local shops, schools, sports clubs and an active village community. There is local interest in conservation and heritage - both in the links to the hunting landscape of Sherwood Forest and in the village’s evolution from rural hamlet to commuter settlement.
