Aston Rowant is a small village and civil parish in South Oxfordshire, Oxfordshire, England, perched on the escarpment of the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The neighbouring Aston Rowant National Nature Reserve is a notable patch of chalk grassland and beech woodland, home to rare orchids, a rich butterfly fauna and birds of prey, and it gives the village a strong sense of landscape and wildlife interest.
Historically the settlement has medieval roots and retains a handful of historic cottages and a parish church, while economically it remains largely rural with farming complemented by a significant commuter population using the nearby M40 corridor to Oxford and London. Socially it’s a close-knit community with local clubs and village events, relying on nearby centres such as Watlington and Chinnor for shops and services.
