Stokenchurch is a village and civil parish in Buckinghamshire, sitting on the edge of the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the M40/A40 corridor between Oxford and London. Its elevated position gives wooded slopes, patches of heath and fine walking country, and the skyline is marked by the well-known Stokenchurch transmitting station, a local landmark visible for miles.
Historically a stopping place on coaching and local trade routes, the village grew through agriculture and woodland industries and later became a commuter community for nearby towns such as High Wycombe. Today it retains village shops, pubs and a strong community life alongside small businesses, while its Chiltern setting makes it popular with walkers and anyone wanting easy access to both countryside and the larger centres of the Thames Valley.
