Castor and Ailsworth are neighbouring villages and a single civil parish on the western edge of Peterborough in the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire. They lie close to the River Nene and the recreational open spaces of Ferry Meadows and Nene Park, giving a pleasant riverside, semi-rural character while remaining within easy commuting distance of the city.
Castor is especially notable for important Roman archaeology in the vicinity and for its historic parish church dedicated to St Kyneburgha, while Ailsworth is a smaller, tightly knit riverside community with a village hall, local events and popular footpaths for walkers. Both settlements are largely residential and commuter-oriented, but retain village pubs, community activities and a strong local identity linked to the Nene valley landscape.
