Newhey is a village in the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale, in Greater Manchester and historically part of Lancashire, lying in the valley of the River Beal close to the foothills of the South Pennines. It sits between Milnrow and Littleborough and is within easy commuting distance of Rochdale and Manchester, so it combines a semi‑rural feel with good transport links to larger towns and cities in England.
Like much of the area it expanded in the 19th century around the cotton and textile industries, and remnants of mill buildings have been repurposed for housing and small businesses. Today Newhey retains a strong local community with sports clubs, pubs and local events, while offering quick access to countryside walking and outdoor activities in the nearby Pennine landscape.
