Ashwick is a small, rural parish in Somerset, lying within the Mendip district on the edge of the Mendip Hills. It occupies rolling limestone countryside of hedged fields and small woodlands, with a scattering of traditional stone houses and farmsteads that give the area a distinctly rural, unhurried feel.
The parish has a long local history reflected in its buildings and landscape, with echoes of prehistoric activity and the old quarrying and mining economy of the Mendips. Today agriculture and small-scale local enterprise predominate, while many residents commute to nearby centres such as Bath and Wells; community life centres on the village hall, church and seasonal events that maintain a close-knit social fabric.
