Doulting is a small village and civil parish in Somerset, set on the eastern slopes of the Mendip Hills just a couple of miles from Shepton Mallet. The landscape is defined by rolling limestone country, springs and small valley woodlands, giving a quiet rural character with good views across the surrounding farmland.
Its quarries are famous for the local oolitic "Doulting Stone", used for centuries in buildings such as Wells Cathedral, and the village has a long medieval heritage centred on its parish church and old lanes. Today the economy mixes small‑scale farming and stoneworking with residents who commute to nearby towns, while a close‑knit community preserves local traditions and occasional events.
