The neighbouring villages of Berrow and Brean sit on the flat, sandy coast of Somerset in England, facing the wide tides of the Bristol Channel. Berrow is tucked behind dunes and salt marshes that attract birdwatchers and walkers, while Brean is best known for its long sandy beach and the dramatic limestone headland of Brean Down that juts into the sea and gives excellent coastal views.
Both places have a strong holiday economy - caravan parks, cafés, pubs and family attractions (notably Brean Leisure Park) dominate in summer - alongside agriculture and local commuting to jobs such as those around Hinkley Point. Historically Brean Down bears evidence of earlier military and Roman activity, and today the area combines a quiet, close-knit community feel with the seasonal bustle of visitors from nearby Weston-super-Mare and beyond.
