Godney is a small village and civil parish on the edge of the Somerset Levels in Somerset, England, a few miles from Glastonbury. Its flat, low-lying landscape of reclaimed peat, rhynes and reedbeds has shaped a long history of wetland management and agriculture, and the pattern of drainage ditches and pasture gives the area a distinctive, open character rich in wildlife.
Today the community is small and largely rural, with farming still important alongside growing interest in conservation, birdwatching and modest rural tourism; local volunteer groups are active in habitat management and flood resilience. Traditional buildings and a close-knit social scene give Godney a quietly historic feel while remaining within easy reach of the region’s larger cultural hubs.
