Oake is a small, rural village and civil parish in Somerset, set in gently rolling farmland a short distance west of Taunton and close to Wellington. The landscape is classic Somerset countryside of hedgerowed lanes, orchards and pastures, and the village retains a quiet, agricultural character punctuated by a few historic cottages and a medieval parish church.
Locally there’s a strong community feel centred on the village hall and occasional fairs and events, while the economy remains largely agricultural with some people commuting to larger towns via the nearby M5. Conservation and listed buildings give the place a sense of continuity, and its peaceful lanes and rural views make it typical of West Country village life.
