Rode is a small village and civil parish in the Mendip district of Somerset, lying close to the county boundary with Wiltshire and just a few miles east of the market town of Frome. It occupies a pleasant rural setting on the edge of the rolling Mendip Hills, within easy reach of Bath and Bristol, making it popular for country walks and short commutes to larger centres.
Historically tied to agriculture and the region’s wool and cloth trades, Rode still shows its past in stone cottages and a traditional village core; there are local amenities such as a pub and village hall and an active community calendar of events and clubs. Today the local economy is a mix of farming, small businesses and commuters, and the village retains a strong sense of place and rural character despite its proximity to bigger towns.
