Stratton on the Fosse is a compact village and civil parish in Somerset, sited beside the line of the Roman Fosse Way on the northern fringe of the Mendip Hills. Its position close to the old Somerset Coalfield and between larger centres such as Bath and Shepton Mallet gives it a mix of rural character and easy commuting links, with rolling farmland and limestone ridges visible on the skyline.
Historically the village grew around farming, wool and later coal-related activity, and today retains a village green feel with a medieval parish church, local pubs and a village hall that host community events. The local economy is a blend of agriculture, small businesses and residents who travel to nearby towns for work, while the setting and heritage attract visitors interested in country walks and local history.
