Boldon Colliery is a ward and former pit village in the borough of South Tyneside, part of the post‑industrial Tyne and Wear conurbation. It grew up around coal mining in the 19th century and remains closely linked to that heritage, sitting alongside the other communities collectively known as The Boldons and within easy reach of South Shields and the Tyneside coast.
Today the area is largely residential with local shops, schools and community clubs, and the mining legacy is still visible in memorials and local identity. Residents benefit from good road and public transport connections to Newcastle and Sunderland, while nearby green spaces and the coast provide leisure and outdoor options.
