Longdon is a pleasantly rural civil parish in the district of Lichfield, Staffordshire, made up of the village of Longdon and nearby hamlets such as Longdon Green, Upper Longdon and Gentleshaw. Set close to the heathy woodlands of Cannock Chase, the area is notable for its rolling farmland, pockets of ancient woodland and traditional brick and timber cottages, with a long agricultural history and a parish church and other period buildings that hint at medieval and later rural roots.
Today the parish combines farming and small local enterprises with a significant commuter population travelling into Lichfield and further afield; walking, cycling and equestrian activities are popular thanks to nearby commons and trails. Community life is lively for a small place, centred on the village hall, pub and regular events and clubs, giving Longdon a strong village identity despite its proximity to larger towns.
