Talke and Talke Pits are neighbouring former mining villages in the borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, England. They sit close to the border with Cheshire and the Stoke-on-Trent conurbation near Kidsgrove, on the edge of the Cheshire Plain where industrial terraces and old pit workings meet greenbelt countryside and canal networks such as the Trent and Mersey Canal.
The settlements grew up around the North Staffordshire coalfield and retain a strong mining heritage - memorials, terraced housing and reclaimed colliery sites are common. Historically tied to coal and the wider industrial economy of the Potteries, the area now sees many residents commuting to nearby towns while local pubs, clubs and community projects maintain a distinct working‑class village character.
