Tixall is a small, rural civil parish a few miles east of Stafford in Staffordshire, England. The landscape is quietly attractive, with rolling farmland, parkland remnants and waterways nearby - the River Sow and the eye-catching widened stretch of the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal are local features that draw walkers, anglers and narrowboat traffic.
Historically the area was organised around a grand country house and its estate; what remains today most famously is the ornate Tixall Gatehouse, a handsome Elizabethan/Jacobean survivor linked to the old Tixall Hall. The parish retains a close-knit, largely residential and agricultural character, with a village church (Holy Cross Church) and a quiet community life that combines farming traditions with commuter links into nearby towns.
