Great Haywood is a village near Stafford in Staffordshire, England. It occupies a pleasant riverside setting at the point where the River Sow meets the River Trent and where the Trent and Mersey Canal meets the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal, so it’s long been popular with boaters, walkers and anglers.
The village retains a rural, community feel with historic links to waterways and agriculture and benefits from being close to the National Trust’s Shugborough Estate and the open country of Cannock Chase. Local amenities and a handful of pubs cater for residents and visitors, while many people commute to nearby towns - the canals and estate attract modest tourism that complements the village economy.
