Hadleigh is a market town and civil parish in Babergh, Suffolk, England, set on the valley of the River Brett and surrounded by rolling farmland and heath. The town is dominated by the dramatic ruins of Hadleigh Castle on a nearby ridge, which afford sweeping views over the surrounding countryside and estuary and were famously captured in paintings by John Constable.
Historically a cloth‑making and market centre, Hadleigh still has a lively high street of independent shops, cafes and a compact conservation area of Georgian and Victorian streets. The local economy now mixes small businesses and services with a commuter population who travel to larger centres such as Ipswich, while an active community scene supports arts, local events and countryside pursuits.
