Nayland is a compact riverside village in the Babergh district of Suffolk, England, set on the north bank of the River Stour close to the Essex border. It retains a well‑preserved core of timber‑framed and Georgian houses, a historic parish church and a small quay, and much of the village sits within a conservation area that reflects past prosperity from agriculture and river trade.
Today the village is largely residential with local shops, pubs and small businesses and an active community life centred on the village hall and sports clubs. It attracts visitors for riverside walks, boating and heritage interest, while many residents commute to larger towns but continue to maintain strong village traditions and events.
