Wormingford is a small village and civil parish in the district of Colchester in Essex, England, set on the north bank of the River Stour close to the Dedham Vale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the border with Suffolk. The surrounding landscape of meadows, hedgerows and grazing farmland gives it the classic Stour‑valley feel popular with walkers and wildlife enthusiasts.
With medieval roots and an ancient parish church, the place retains a cluster of listed timber‑framed cottages and farm buildings; twentieth‑century artist John Nash lived and painted in the area, attracted by its quiet countryside. Today it remains largely agricultural with a small, close‑knit community focused on local events, heritage and conservation rather than industry.
