The area around Hooley, Merstham and Netherne sits on the northern edge of the borough of Reigate and Banstead in Surrey, close to the Greater London boundary. It mixes suburban streets with pockets of Green Belt and woodland on the lower slopes of the North Downs, and benefits from good commuter rail and road links via Merstham station and nearby routes into London.
Merstham has historic ties to quarrying and the railway, while Netherne is notable for the former psychiatric hospital site that has been redeveloped into a residential community with new facilities; Hooley retains more of a village character. The neighbourhood is largely a commuter area with local shops, pubs and active community groups, valued for its combination of historic features, green spaces and easy access to both countryside and the capital.
